Raised Garden Beds
In preparation for warmer weather, we constructed and created our own planter boxes for our garden! We were sure to use untreated, cedar planks to withstand the elements and to eliminate toxic chemicals that could leach into the soil. Stay tuned for...planning and prepping your garden space!

Vegan Chocolate Cake with Buttercream Frosting
Colleen Patick-Goudreau's "The Joy of Vegan Baking" gives a wonderful and simple recipe. Just combine flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, canola oil, vinegar, and cold water. Bake for 25-35 minutes. Once cooled, ice cake with your favorite homemade icing.

Terrariums Part 2
You will need the following materials:
A Vessel - we find that old fish bowls, long flat vases, and mason jars work nicely
Moss - from your backyard or found at a local park
Various plant life of your choosing - we like tropical plants and succulents
Dirt - appropriate for your particular eco-environment
Pebbles - for aeration and water flow
You will begin by placing larger size rocks at the bottom of your vessel for water flow. Next, loosely add the dirt about halfway up the vessel. Plant your moss and other plants in dirt ensuring that they have room to breathe. If desired, small rocks can be sprinkled on top of the dirt for visual appeal. Last, spritz your moss at least once a day lightly and water your plants every other day during first week of planting. After, water according to plant specification. (Succulents work wonderfully because they only require water once a week and are easy to transplant!)
